Application Criteria:
Any researcher from the University of Oxford (whether based in Oxford, MORU, or OUCRU) holding a contract extending at least through the end of the proposed project may apply to lead the project, provided they have host departmental approval. Applicants should confirm their eligibility with their departments, and departmental approvers are required to verify the eligibility of applicants before forwarding any applications. Researchers within the MORU/OUCRU network who are not University employees can apply as Co-investigators. The MORU-Oxford DiTi Panel especially encourages applications from Early Career Researchers and those seeking to establish independent research careers, provided they meet these criteria.
Building on the success of the 2023 pilot call, MORU and the Translational Research Office (TRO) of Oxford's Medical Science Division aim to strengthen collaborations between MORU, OUCRU, and Oxford-based teams to support and create partnerships that will mutually benefit global health research initiatives led from either location.
We aim to establish partnerships and support collaborative projects focused on novel diagnostic technologies for high-burden infectious diseases in low and middle income countries. We work to drive the validation of prototypes towards clinical implementation through on-the-ground testing in relevant patient populations and global health environments. Our focus includes diagnostic tools, devices, platform technologies, and digital health solutions for tropical and infectious diseases, with the overall goal of increasing translational research initiatives in global health.
We encourage Oxford-employed PIs based in either Oxford (UK) or the MORU Tropical Health Network (Thailand) to apply, with at least one PI required to be based in Oxford, UK. In response to the increased awareness and demand from last year's round, we are pleased to expand this year's call to include Oxford-employed PIs from the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) locations in Vietnam, Nepal, and Indonesia. Additionally, PIs based at MORU’s sister research sites, including SMRU and CCRU in Thailand, LOMWRU in Laos, COMRU in Cambodia, and MOCRU in Myanmar, are also invited to apply.
